September

School has been back in session for about 3 weeks now. I am very busy moving between 2 schools, instead of one long block per school. I like the 3 consecutive days per cycle in a school as it seems more manageable for the teachers.
The kids are great, same issues as last year. Only problem with new schedule is how long it will be before I get to my third school. Which is about the same as the other way.

The hummus recipe was very good. I will make it again.
October... well it will be busy too. Len will be up in Fort Chip for a week, Ken and Shavon are coming down. Ken and I are going to Blue Man group... Can't wait!
Trevor and Amber want us to go out to TB. We will see as that is just after Len gets home.
Have a great Thanksgiving every one.

Hummus Recipe

I get recipes from Peak of the Market and this one caught my eye.
I plan on trying it soon.

Roasted Pepper Hummus
1 can can garbanzo beans, rinsed & drained (14 oz / 398 ml)
1/4 C roasted red peppers
12 kalamata olives, pitted
4 sun dried tomato halves
1/4 C water
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp fresh basil leaves, chopped
2 tsp olive oil
2 medium garlic cloves, peeled (or use garlic stuffed olives)

A Monarch Summer; Summer 09

This has been a busy summer and now only this week left as it is back to work Sept 8.
We started off the summer with friends from Thompson here in June, then with Ken and Shavon here. Shavon had her niece and some friends here too as they were going to the Jonas Brothers. They left and visitors from Illinois arrived. They were here to attend the Monarch Teachers Network Workshop. (see pictures of Monarchs for an idea of how awesome that was)
Just before they left Trevor and Amber arrived with dogs. We left and went to Alberta and BC
We came home, a chrysalis became a butterfly and Daralee and Magnus arrived with adorable children. We had rain, but fun with the kids.
They left, and I released the butterfly.
Chris arrived and another butterfly emerged. Released that butterfly. (more pics) All three of us went to Thunder Bay and had a good visit with Trevor and Amber.
Now Chris is gone.
I also did some geocaching. Found my 200th cache in BC on a mountain.
Other than the weather it was a good summer.

Good Friday

Finally! Spring has sprung! This past week I saw a robin, and today was beautiful out. The Red River is in flood, again. This year ice has been a major headache, causing ice-jams and making officials nervous about opening the flood-way. However, river levels were rising to the 6 m mark so the decision was made to open the flood-way gates part way, and watch for ice-jams in the city. Today, as we were returning home from being out, we noticed one of the Amphibex Icebreakers was working on an ice-jam by the south perimeter bridge. We didn't stop, so no pictures, sorry.
Len did get some pictures of a deer in Bird's Hill Park. Check his blog out and maybe he will post the picture there.

To see pictures of the Amphibex at work Google Amphibex on Red River, Winnipeg. It is an amazing machine.

Winter is gone and Spring has sprung

I can't believe that winter is over. We are in the midst of a typical Winnipeg spring. Flooding on our street makes it hard to get out. I am beginning to go stir crazy.
